Executive Director, RIKEN
Makiko Naka currently serves as RIKEN's executive director in charge of
international affairs, communications, young researcher development, and
diversity. Before joining RIKEN she served for fourteen years as a professor at
Hokkaido University, and four years as a professor in the College of
Comprehensive Psychology of Ritsumeikan University. Before joining Hokkaido
University, she served as an associate professor at Tokyo Metropolitan University
and an associate professor at Chiba University. She earned her Ph.D in psychology
from Ochanomizu University, where she received a Research Award from the
Japanese Psychological Association in 2006 and from the Developmental
Psychology Association in 2022. She also received the International Award of
Merit from the Japanese Psychological Association in 2020.
